On the 23rd of July, German forces crossed the Austro-Germanic border, and proceeded into the city of Branau, in which they came into contact with the 6th infantry brigade.
The 86th Panzer IV brigade maneuvered down the small roads of Branau, proceeding into the city, to come face to face with the 6th, in which the 6th opened the first fire on the German invaders.
On fire, the Germans retaliated, German soldiers firing off their Kar 98k rifles off of the tanks, using the long roads to their advantage, especially with the good sight of the rifles.
Their competitor in the battle was Austrian soldiers, attempting to use the side alleys to get into frontal contact with the infantry on the tanks, armed with their MP-18 sub-machine guns; Upon seeing them, the German forces opened fire, almost simultaneously.
In the aftermath of the German bombardment, Austrian bodies fell to the ground, some dead, and some of them alive; But that didn't matter in the interests of the Germans, as they pushed on a bit further to face down the Austrian's 14th Tank Battalion.
It wasn't until they reached Linz that they came into contact with the 14th, figuring out that the tank battalion slogan was just a bluff for the troops, and that it was actually a division with 7 cm Gebirgsgeschütz M 99 infantry guns.
They shot at the tanks, blasting some of the crew on board to the floor.
Soon, shots where fired back at them, soon taking out one of the guns, taking it under German control.
They turned the gun around to the Austrians, firing it off at their way so that one of their guns got blasted, thus destroying the gun on sight of the shot.
With more soldiers firing off their guns, one of the German guns got hit, causing a soldiers leg to get cut right open, two soldiers dragging him back off to the panzer, but sadly the man didn't make it, dying of a slit vein, that most probably got infected.
After about 10 minutes of constant fighting, the Germans managed to finally crush the artillery point, moving into the city of Vienna, where they where soon reached by the 84th.
They moved in as one, pushing off into the Heldenplatz square, where a good majority of soldiers in the region where concentrated, in a hope to defend the city of Vienna in it's heart.
The Germans got stuck in the tight alleyways, the soldiers having to push at the panzers to get them out & luckily with the right amount of troops, and the acceleration of the panzer commandeers they eventually got into the square.
Even more intense fighting kicked off, as Austrian artillery peirced the once quiet air, in a hope to kick back the Germans who, as per their previous invasions, moved in with all of their speed into the Austrian artillery, which with a few German casualties proved a major success, as they soon overrid the Austrian defence, and captured the Heldenplatz square.
With the German flag flying on the statue of Archduke Charles of Austria, the Austrian forces in the rest of the country surrendered to the forces, as more German troops crossed the borders, the infantry now on bicycles & motorbikes, being supported by a good round of Panzer IIIs & IVs.
With propaganda drops now being a clear thing after the invasion, peopled lined out on the streets to greet the Germans, as they pushed into the city, amid cries of cheering.
A auxiliary militia in the nation was formed, to back the German army, and certain men who where seen fit where conscripted into either the Waffen-SS of the Wehrmacht, filling good places in the Heer, Luftwaffe and the Kriegsmarine.
